Gayle grew up in “Cajun Country” Louisiana and lived in Florida for 10 years prior to moving to Las Vegas in 2006. Gayle holds a bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Northwestern State University; a master’s degree in Student Personnel Services from Northwestern State University, and a doctoral degree in Educational Management from University of West Florida. She joins us with 22 years of experience in higher education in the areas of recruitment, admissions, academic advising, and developing retention-based programming for student services. Most recently she was the Assistant Vice Provost for Retention, Progression & Completion at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Gayle also served as the inaugural Executive Director for UNLV’s 11 Academic Advising Centers for eight years. In addition, she taught in the department of Women’s Studies for the College of Liberal Arts. Before arriving at UNLV, Gayle spent a decade at University of West Florida in Pensacola. During that time, she worked in the areas of admissions, student academic supporting programs, recruitment, and academic advising. In fact, she provided the leadership for the opening of the Professional Studies Student Center, a hub for centralized academic support on UWF’s campus. Gayle is a national leader of NACADA (Global Association of Academic Advising), serves as a member of the NACADA Publications Committee, and was the 2015 annual conference chair. She is also a member of the editorial board for The Journal of Academic Advising.

In her spare time Gayle enjoys Mojave Desert gardening, jogging (half marathons), reading, Broadway musicals, and traveling.
