AGENDA

SYMPOSIUM SESSIONS

MARCH 16: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Intro to Continuous Improvement & Site Visit
Menomonee Falls High School Auditorium

Participants will have the opportunity to visit classrooms at all levels where continuous improvement cycles are being used to personalize learning for students and increase student ownership/engagement in their learning. Panel conversations will allow for questions and answers from the participants so that relevant issues are being addressed.

MARCH 17: 8:00 am – 3:30 pm

Creating a System of Continuous Improvement: Integrating Teams, Tools, and Tactics • Co-hosted by Studer Education
Radisson Hotel Menomonee Falls

This workshop is designed to provide advanced strategies to district leaders who have participated in the site visit and the Introduction to Continuous Learning Process sessions in the past. This session will target site and district administrators, specifically providing tools and techniques that have worked well for process improvement across the system in the School District of Menomonee Falls.

MARCH 17: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Intro to Continuous Learning Processes in the Classroom
Radisson Hotel Menomonee Falls

The introductory workshop will take participants through the eight components of the classroom model being implemented. The district recommends that teams of teachers and site administrators attend the introduction session before attending other Friday sessions. If the goal is to implement improvement strategies with students in the classroom, this is a great first step.

MARCH 17: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

We and Me: Using Student Data Folders to Develop Personal Learning Pathways
Hilton Garden Inn Milwaukee

The workshop is designed to take participants who have been implementing the eight components in their classroom to the next level of personalizing the continuous improvement process through the use of student data folders. Participants will learn about the key components of a student data folder necessary to generating the personalized pathways of student learning.

PRE – SYMPOSIUM SESSIONS

MARCH 14: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Intro to Restorative Practices

Learn practical strategies to build strong, healthy relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Interactive experiences bring a full understanding of the fundamental premise of restorative practices – people are happier, more cooperative and productive and more likely to make positive changes in their lives when those in positions of authority do things with them rather than to them or for them. This is a prerequisite for the March 15 Restorative Practice session.

MARCH 15: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Restorative Practices: Using Circles Effectively

Circles facilitate conversation and encourage full participation, but there are ways to optimize this process that promote meaningful communication. Through video, practice and discussion, participants identify reliable methods for using circles to build community, establish norms and address behavior and relationships.

MARCH 15: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Tying Math and Literacy Models with Continuous Improvement Processes

Gain insight surrounding key processes in math and literacy that the School District of Menomonee Falls has implemented to increase student achievement and staff capacity. Participants will engage in collaborative conversations reflecting on current practices and continuous improvement. Menomonee Falls District Literacy COaches and Math Specialists will share the district’s journey around systemic school improvement, including process around:
  • High Quality Instruction
  • Accountability
  • System for Interventions
  • Coaching
  • High Standards
  • Professional Learning Communities
  • Project Mapping
